Dr. Ella Baker
Dr. Ella Baker is a Scientific Research Coordinator at a probiotics company, where she applies scientific research to support product innovation and development focused on human health. She previously worked as a Senior Research Fellow in Human Development and Health at the University of Southampton.
Dr. Baker completed her PhD in 2018 under the supervision of Professor Philip Calder. Her thesis, “Comparing Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids from Marine Sources to Sustainable Plant Sources,” explored the molecular mechanisms behind the anti-inflammatory properties of different lipid sources.
She has expertise in molecular and cell biology techniques, inflammation, fatty acid metabolism, and the coordination of human nutrition intervention trials. Her academic research focused on the metabolism and function of plant-derived fatty acids, particularly their impact on membrane structure and function.
Dr. Baker is passionate about human nutrition, probiotics, and functional foods, with a growing interest in how sustainable bioactives can support health through targeted, science-driven approaches.
